Onto Nashville y’all!
Our first meal in Nashville was at the Loveless Cafe. Notorious for down home Southern cooking and a popular stop for celebrities (their photos line the walls!), the cafe has a storied history and is steeped in nostalgia.
Walking up to the cafe, we expected a long wait (especially since it was Father’s Day) and decided to walk over to their shops to kill time.
Inside, they were sampling some of their famous jalapeno bacon and at that point it was game over. When I say bacon frenzy I mean it. Talk about blood in the water. We bought them out of jalapeno bacon that day. If any of you were there on Father’s Day looking for jalapeno bacon, I’m sorry. We were THOSE people.
Collectively, our group left with 22 lbs of bacon. That’s not a typo. Not two. TWENTY-TWO pounds of bacon. Did I mention we got our money’s worth out of the cooler this trip?
Since coming home, I’ve gone through 4 lbs already. I’ve chopped it up and roasted summer squash and zucchini in the drippings, rolled it around jalapeno poppers, and occasionally drooled on the packaging. I’ve got one pound left. It’s a good thing you can order this stuff online.
After getting kicked out of the shop for excessive bacon consumption, by way of samples and purchases (just kidding), we headed over to the cafe to enjoy our Southern Sunday dinner.
Here’s what I like to call the before picture. See how happy we all are? It may or may not have something to do with 22 lbs of bacon and 6 tubs of jalapeno butter in our van.
We proceeded to split pimento cheese fried green tomato biscuits.
Guzzle down sweet tea with chasers of moonshine.
…and consume half of their supper menu. Get ready to scroll.
…and because that isn’t enough food by Southern standards, throw in some biscuits for good measure.
…and since that STILL isn’t enough food, you should ask the waitress for the list of pies.
…and because you still have a shred of dignity after wiping the pimento cheese, barbecue pork, and biscuit crumbs off your face, you get your pie to go. All four slices of it.

I don’t care how full you are. Never say no to jalapeno bacon and fresh biscuits. Or pie. Especially the pie. I’m in love with the Loveless.
Next stop is how the five of us moved into a Restoration Hardware/Pottery Barn catalog for 48 hours. The doorways were wide enough too!
