Ice Cream for the Doggies–Day 15: Ice Cream Marathon

Half way through the marathon!

To celebrate the midway mark I’m posting an ice cream that is pretty popular in our house–with both of our four legged family members.

Walter & Dilla

If you have dogs, you may have seen doggy ice cream in the frozen section of the grocery store.

He slept this way for 15 minutes

Our pups go nuts for it but it can be expensive over the course of the whole summer.

He slept this way all night.  You know how it feels good to sleep with one leg out from under the sheet?

My mother-in-law gave us a recipe to make at home and it has saved us lots of money!

All about cuddling

Honestly, I suppose if you wanted to take a taste, you could.  There isn’t anything in the recipe that wouldn’t be good!

Best Buddies

Our two pups, Walter (Scottish Terrier) and Dilla (German Shepherd), keep us pretty entertained.  There isn’t anything better than coming home from a bad day at work to two wagging tails.

I woke up to this sight.  I have no idea how long he was up there.

Somehow the tails seem to move even faster when they see two paper cups come out of the freezer!

{Puppy Ice Cream}
Makes 4 cups (I can make 14 cups total with this amount; 7 filled 2/3 way for our Shepherd and 7 filled 1/2 way for our Scottie)

  • 32 oz. plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 2 small containers banana flavored baby food
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1/4 c. peanut butter
  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a large measuring cup.  Makes it easier to pour.
  3. Pour the yogurt mixture into small paper cups and freeze until set.
