There are some things that automatically come to mind when you think about someone.
For instance, when I think of my husband I think of Dr. Pepper.
He is slightly addicted to Dr. Pepper.
And by slightly, I mean totally.
And by slightly, I mean totally.
The whole world knows it. We’ve had family and friends pass along recipes, candy, and even freezer pops made with Dr. Pepper.
I hear it is a Texas thing and he definitely drinks more of it when we’re back in his hometown than he does usually.
Those 23 flavors are pretty unique so I got curious to see how I could incorporate into some ice cream.
Reducing it down into ultra-concentrated Dr. Pepper seemed to do the trick!
{Dr. Pepper Ice Cream}
Ingredients
- 2 c. Dr. Pepper + more if you want to serve as a float
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 c. heavy cream
- 3/4 c. powdered sugar
- Reduce the Dr. Pepper and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until you have 1/2 c. total. Let cool and pour into a cup. Chill in the refrigerator.
- In a stand mixer, whisk the cream and cooled Dr. Pepper until combined. Slowly add in the powdered sugar and beat until soft peaks form and the cream holds it shape.
- Transfer to a container and freeze until set.
- Serve scooped into glasses with Dr. Pepper poured over the top.
